It looks like a stye. I get these if I don't remove my mascara properly. I hold a hot cloth over my eye. (not too hot though) I do this twice a day and this usually will reduce the swelling and quicken the healing process. You're right not to our makeup over the top of it, it would really irritate the eye further and cause you more pain. Hope I helped. :)

Not to put makeup over the top of it*

I'm 99% sure that is a sty! You can't pop it and you shouldnt touch it and I would stay away from makeup. Go to a pharmacy and get eyedrops made for stys.

^^ I work for an ophthalmologist and these ladies are both right.

I think it's s sty, too. Rub something gold on it, like a ring. It helps almost instantly :)

The ring? nope! My family has been doing it for generations. My friend calls it 'hillbilly voodoo" lol.

Haha! @Honey Its true! I was told to do that as well. Worked well for me too. X

Uh if you are going to try the ring thing I would say clean the hell out of that ring first - jewlery (especially hand jewlery) is full of bacterias!

Hehe thats good Erin, I wouldnt want it go get infected and worse ;)

Lol definitely clean the ring and Valkyrie, I'm glad I'm not alone!

Make an appointment with the doctors! It looks like a stye! Hot compresses always work. I used to put hot tea bags over my eyes when I got them for a while to help it going away!

Oh it's a stye. I got one the other month. Try eye drops. It'll be gone soon.

Shanae J.
I usually just wait them out, they only last like 2 days.

Brittany F.
Um they definitely last longer than two days and may get worse if left untreated! Change our your current mascara to avoid spreading the bacteria from it around and just to avoid irritation try not to wear makeup along the bottom lash line until your stye goes away! I used to get a few when I was younger because I was just a kid and didn't know makeup expired :( what worked best for me was green tea bags! Just seep them, wait for them to be hot but not scalding of course and place them on your eyes until they cool!

I was speaking from personal experience, I don't believe you have any right to tell me how long they last when I get one. Lmao.
Feb 19, 2015
Shelley W.
@Shanae...your response was rude and completely unnecessary. Yes, that was your experience but overall Brittany's comment was pointing out that for most individuals the situation can last longer than two days. Respond to people as you would like to be responded to...with kindness.

I think you meant to say that they CAN last longer than two days. But for me no, it's been gone the next day or the day after. I've never done a thing about them. I get like, once a year or every other year. You don't have to waste your entire day going to the doctor. Just get some drops, if anything & then leave it alone so you don't irritate it or anything.

Thank you Shelley but she didn't word her response correctly and it came off rude. But thanks.

@Shanae...you are sadly mistaken because you were the one that came off as rude. You need to correct how you respond to other people because this is not the first time. Its all about the verbiage that you use.
Feb 19, 2015
Shanae J.
Sadly mistaken? No, she came off rude by canceling out my comment. She didn't say that they can, she said that they did, implying that I was 100% wrong. My apologies if my comments sometimes come off rude, but it's never unless someone is rude before the fact. Thanks Shelley!

Sabrina K.
Shanae I have to agree with Shelley on this, you did come of rude, and continuing to debate it definitely doesn't make it better.
Feb 19, 2015
Shanae J.
Thanks, I got it.

@Shanae...this thread isn't going to turn into a courtroom. Bottom line...if you don't like a person's response be the bigger person and remain classy...being rude doesn't resolve anything. I deal with rude people all day/every day in my line of work...doesn't mean I allow them to get the best of me.
Now let's get back on target...assisting Erin with her situation at hand.
Feb 19, 2015
Shelley W.
@Erin...I get them from time to time and what works best for me is applying a warm compress to the eye area. It helps reduce the pain. I also refrain from applying any kind of makeup till it completely heals up.
Feb 19, 2015
Shanae J.
You betcha! Just letting you know the whole courtroom thing was extremely offensive.
