Title says it all :)
I dye my hair red all the time, and I was wondering if anybody tried to mix semi permanent dye iwith conditioner or hair mask?
Does that work? I don't want to use it for every wash, but once in a while?
Thanks in advance!

I did it for a while when I had lilac hair, it's a good way of refreshing your colour before you need to dye it again.

I was wondering about this too. how much do you mix in with the conditioner? how long does it last before you need to throw it out?

I used to do this a lot when I had colorful hair, it helps with the vibrancy. If you don't plan on keeping your hair that color for a long time, I'd suggest you make a little bottle mixing conditioner with the dye (I'm talking about veggie dye like Manic Panic, NOT box dye), the quantity isn't important I don't think, but if the conditioner looks colorful enough, that should do. (Maybe someone else has exact measurements, but that's how I did it)
Shauna, it should last as much as your conditioner usually does.
You can use it every time you wash your hair, just leave it in for a while and then rinse out. I used to use it only when I saw a bit of fading but it won't damage your hair if you use it every time.

Ema I recomend you look into the Revlon Color bomb - its a hair treatment with dye in it! Its made for keeping the color vibrant!
I have used several of them, red, blond, purple, platinum... They really keep the color fresh and makes your hair so soft and healthy!

With a veggie dye, I generally just mix a few drops in so it makes a pastel version of whatever color I have, and that way when I use it (when I do, I leave it on for 30 minutes as a mask anyways) but it doesn't change the color, it just coats what's lost in the shower so it stays the same color. If you put to much dye in, it could stain your hands and body while rinsing it.
It won't damage your hair at all. Veggie dyes are basically vegetable pigment mixed with conditioner. It's actually good to leave it in for long periods of time. So it'll condition and make your hair soft, especially if you mix it with a good conditioner or mask.

Ah that is so helpful, I will check the Revlon color bomb Sabrina.
Thanks Alyx, sometimes my ends are getting pinkish from the pink based red dyes and that is why I was looking into a more convenient way to refresh the color. Thank you

I used to just use a teaspoon sized amount mixed in an old bleaching tray with my normal amount of conditioner and just mix it whenever I needed it. That way there was no waste, and it only takes a moment to make up :)
