Can you cut/trim hair while its dry? And does it matter if I use my regular paper-cutting scissors?

No to both those questions.
your hair needs to be wet when you cut your hair or else it looks choppy and nasty. (My opinion)
I recommend you buy professional hair cutting scissors.
If your going to cut your bangs I recommend getting hair thinning scissors also.

I do it when it's dry sometimes and I don't notice a difference, but I use professional haircutting scissors.

Every hair stylist knows to cut your hair when it's wet (:
my cousin is a professional hair stylist & she graduated from cosmetology school as well and she says to never cut your hair when it is dry. & never use any type of scissors besides professional hair cutting scissors (:

I believe it is OK to cut hair when dry. I actually think it's better. If you cut it when it's dry, you can better see texture of hair and different lengths of pieces. Wet vs dry hair looks and feels very different. I would recommend cutting hair dry and straight with professional hair-cutting scissors. I am no hair stylist but I am very close with a few and have done a little research on wet vs dry cutting.

I always trim my hair dry, but yes, definitely use hair cutting shears. Regular ones are going to shred up your ends.

Let me rephrase, I think it looks best when you cut it when it's wet & most hair stylists know to cut it wet also.
But cutting your hair dry is not better.
some people disagree & some agree. I personally don't like how it looks when you cut your hair dry. Because it can look choppy if you don't know what you are doing.
Although thank you kaytlin I'm still going to listen to my cousin who is a professional hair stylist & not cut my hair dry (-:

I think it's more an issue of professional vs home cut. For people who haven't cut their own hair before, or are amateurs, dry cutting is easier because you can see what you're doing a little easier. It's not the proper way, but it's easier. Now, if a professional came at my dry hair with scissors, I'd be a little freaked lol.

Yes, that is all I'm trying to say lol
I would be scared too if I went to a salon and they didn't wet/wash my hair.
I cut my hair dry about four years ago and to me it was hard although I have very thin hair
I think cutting hair while is wet is easier but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone has different ways of doing things depends all on the person

If I'm cutting my bangs my hair is always dry. I find it easier to mess up if it is wet. my hair is dry when I trim it. if I'm cutting anyone else's hair I get it damp! Unless its the bangs. I use professional scissors. But I don't think it necessarily matters. As long as the scissors are sharp.
