I want to bleach my bangs, and dye them different colors every once in a while. Do you think it would work for me? I would be using either splat or manic panic, because that's all I can afford. Does anyone have any tips to do it at home to? I'd love to get it done in a salon, but again, I don't have the time and money. Thanks in advance! I have pictures on my profile if you need to see my hair.

Because its your bangs and if you honestly feel comfortable enough with bleaching your bangs I say go for it. Use coconut oil and deep conditioners to regain the moisture after bleaching. For colors because you want to change every once in a while I'd suggest Manic Panic since their formulas are demi-semi permanent which means youll have an easier time getting the color out of your hair since itll wash out, versus using Splat because you'll have to keep re bleaching your hair.

I honestly see no problem being DIY, I've been coloring my own hair for years. Just be sure to do your research and follow all health and safety procedures. And I think it would suit you great!

Be sure to do your research at home if you want to.. and remember that the results you get will almost never be the same exact ones as the model on the box and you can't go back once you already did it. also, don't rush it either and make your time checks. just a few of the things I learned from doing it at home. and remember the salon will probably do it a lot better then a diy probably could in my opinion.

As for bleach, I agree with the other girls, it's extremely damaging and its best to have it done professionally. Since its summer, there's loads of people who don't want to mow their own lawn and I'm sure there's loads looking for a babysitter and if you aren't comfortable babysitting all alone, ask a friend to tag along :)
Bleaching at a salon is the safest option otherwise you can do some serious damage to your hair. As for hair dye, I'm really iffy when it comes to Splat and if you're only doing your bangs, there's way too much dye in a box. But I completely trust Manic Panic and I've been using it for three years. Not to mention they have a larger color selection than Splat. Just make sure you have a brush to apply the color with and since your hair is dark, don't worry too much about getting the dye on parts of your hair that aren't bleached, at the very most the dye will slightly tint the darker hair. Good luck! :)

I went to Sallys to pick up manic panic and saw a cheaper brand called beyond the zone. I picked it up and I'm so glad I did. People don't like it because they said it washed out even when they followed the directions carefully. You need to leave it on for more than just 20minutes like the directions say. I keep it on for about 2 hours at least with a plastic bag on top and blow dry it every 10minutes for about a minute. They have pretty nice colours too.
For lightening your hair, try the loreal feria wild ombre kit which is pretty much bleach. I buy it in replacement of buying a whole tub of bleach because its the perfect amount for just an ombre on my thick long hair. I would suggest buying 2 or 3 boxes so that you could get the really light blonde. I also suggest getting the purple color additives and add one in each bottle from sallys to counteract any brassy tones that come with lightening hair. Each packet is 99 cents.
Welcome to the hair coloring world! haha:)
