I don't recommend doing it yourself. I've never dyed my hair, but I heard putting blonde dye in brown hair can make it brassy or orangey. I recommend getting it professionally done. If you already have dry hair, I wouldn't recommend it period because it can set the hair out more and my moms hair won't even grow past a certain length anymore. Not saying this happens to everyone, but I thought I would go ahead and let you know and the decision is yours.

I don't recommend doing it urself but your hair looks light enough where it could work. but your lighter pieces and darker pieces of hair may not lift the same.

I speak from past experience DO NOT DO IT HAHa. If you want to lighten or make your hair blonde bleach is the only way. It will give your hair a ginger tinge and cause needless damage to your hair. If you are going lighten in colour I suggest highlights rather than dyeing the whole thing if you want the colour change to be less dramatic.

I've always had luck with box dyes! Lol. It's just majority of the conditioners suck.

I've had luck with all colours except blonde but I have a tone of natural red tones in my hair that you never can see until blonde gets Put in lol.

I wouldn't do it. and if you're going off of shanae's pictures to decide please take into account the quality of them, the lighting and whether or not they were edited.

Justine, I would've stated whether they were edited or not. Obviously. I was simply giving advice, so you can stop with all that.

I have actually had good luck with box dye in the past as well. If I was going from brown to blonde I would just get a shade or 2 lighter than what I wanted and it would turn out really good. My mom was a past cosmetologist so I have always understood tones and how to fix hair if it goes bad...so just keep that in mind. I never feared hair mistakes as most of them can be corrected.
just always remember some hair dressers do worse than you could do and some hair dressers are AWESOME!! so its all about how well you know the quality of hair dresser you are going to..not just price.

It also depends on how your hair processes. it can easily go orange or brassy. if you are worried or not sure just go to a colorist.

I personally think that your hair, Jade, will work wonderfully with a box dye. It's not overly dark and it seems like it might lighten considerably with just a blonde dye. If it does turn brassy or orange you can get a toner to colour correct it.

I recommend to get hair dye at sally's beuty supply because therw you can see the color base ( golden, cool, ash, neutral) of the dye and choose another volume of the peroxide other than the 20 that comes with the box hair dyes.

If you're worried about brassiness, get the purple color additives from sallys. They're 99 cents per packet and you just add it to your hair dye to counteract brassiness. You can add 2-3 packs depending on how a shy of a finish you want.
