So I've decided that I want to dye my hair blue or maybe another wild color! The only thing now is I'm not really familiar with non damaging hair products I know about Manic Panic and veggie based dies but I want to know if there's any other ones I could easily get my hands on like at Sally's or a drug store and if Ion color will be non damaging or if I have to bleach my hair before using it? I have brown hair right now. I know Ion has semi-permanent bright hair color. I just need some help and advice on what would be the best products to use I really don't want to have to bleach my hair. please help!

The best thing you can do is to get your color done at a salon by a professional. they can help you from there with what shampoos and conditioners to get. but as far as color goes, you guys need to get it done in a salon, it is the safest way for your hair, because there is no non damaging ways.

You will have to bleach it for the color to show up
I'd get it bleached at a salon but you could do the actually colouring yourself
Manic panic is my favorite dye

The thing is if you don't bleach your hair , pastel colors won't show up.
Thankfully you have brown hair, on my experience manic panic vampire red, and green envy, shows on brown hair. I only bleached it once to turn it brown since I had darkest hair.
But if you prefer light color such as manic panic wildfire, electric lizard, pink cadillac, you definitely need to bleach your hair to gold level aka light blonde

There's also a technique called lightning which basically a way to lighten hair but less damaging than bleaching but I never tried it myself so I don't know. Salon might know better.
I bleached my hair by myself using l'oreal bleach, it was great but yeah like any other bleaching it dries my hair and white hair popped in some areas but I don't mind, my genetic allows me to have white hair at young age so lol

I have dark brown hair and I've used manic panic vampire red and only left it on for 10 minutes and it showed up really well. I've never tried the other colors but I was impressed with the colour pay off. if you're ever worried about how it would look just do a test on a small piece of hair. for other non damaging products I would suggest going into a store like Sallys and asking them what they recommend.
