It's the undertones of the foundations/concealers. Essentially NW is cool toned and NC is warm toned.

This is a community where we ask questions and get answers. If you don't like her question and don't have an answer then don't respond :)

Jenny, if you're not familiar with how MAC codes their undertones and/or if you're just getting into makeup then it's a very valid question. The only one making a fool of themselves here is you.

Jenny, that's extremely rude. It's not a stupid question at all and for those who aren't familiar with MAC products it's extremely confusing.
Also, Alexis is right. I know it's confusing, it was always strange to me how NW meant cool toned and NC meant warm. It seems like it should be the other way around doesn't it? Lol.

Jenny you need to stop this now or you account will be reported to the BL team. I already warned you once. This behavior is not accepted here.

Jenny, now you're just trying to make people angry and start something on here. I'm sorry, but this community isn't the place for that. Maybe you could take a look at the forum rules again. However, I'm not here to start anything and I'm definitely not going to argue with anyone.
But Megan, I hope you understand the letters now and I apologize for all of the rudeness on your thread :)

I always like to think of mac's colors as "not cool" and "not warm" since they have it a bit backwards compared to other brands, though it's an accepted method in art to use, so they brought it into makeup. But it is very confusing and not at all a stupid question, especially if you are familiar with other brands foundation and concealer colors, because if you're a "warm beige" on one foundation in say Loreal, then you're likely a NC in Mac. It's definitely confusing if you're new to Mac. Don't be embarrassed at all, there's no stupid questions in makeup, especially with things like this where it isn't the same universally with all the brands, nobody knew without asking and I'm sure even Jenny had to ask to figure it out at first, because they are "backwards" from other brands.
