Was wondering if any of you girls have experience lightening purple hair to blonde hair? I'm going to be dying the extensions auburn anyway so they don't need to be extremely light I was just wondering how medium purple colour will lift! Thanks you guys 💕

I'm not 100% sure at this point, I'm purchasing them tomorrow from this girl, all I really know is that they were blonde previous to her dying them purple so I'm assuming it should lighten up okay haha, I'm definitely going to be giving them a big wash when I get them :) thank you! I have literally no experience with purple hair haha!

I wouldn't attempt to lift colour especially if you're planning on dying them, auburn should cancel them out but for good measure give them a good wash with dish soap and then a deep condition

DONT BLEACH HAIR EXTENSIONS!! They will be ruined. Think of it this way; your natural hair gets damaged when it's bleached right? Well, hair extensions do not have the same oils on them to protect them from the harsh peroxide and will get very dry and brittle and most likely no longer look natural. I've been certified in hair extensions for 5+ years now, and bleaching them is a big no no, especially if you aren't a professional.

If anything, check out eBay or Amazon and buy yourself a nice new set of blonde ones and dye those. Not only is it way more sanitary (using others' extensions isn't the healthiest) but you also won't be paying good money for something that may or may not get ruined.

Baileigh is right! with hair extensions, it is better to not dye them at all. so bleaching and dying would be too damaging. and honestly, if they're too cheap, they probably won't last you very long, especially on top of dying them.

I've done mine from blue to black using a blue black and it worked so perfectly. I hear not to bleach extensions tho. they can't repair themselves so the hair will just be damaged.

Me and my cousin always bleach and/or color our extensions lol.

If it's a semi permanent color it would fade after a few washes.

If it was a permanent color then you would have to use a color remover or bleach.

I think in general, I they're blonde and dyed purple then you try o bleach out the purple it should sort of result in a fairly silvery or quite a neutral blonde. I would just use a 20 developer so it's gradual and you can keep an eye on it.
If you bleach it too long and get all the purple out you may get back to the original color.

@Auroroa, yeah I've bleached extensions when they were already blonde and only had a semi dye in it, I'm just not familiar with darker shades of purple so that's why I asked! I was thinking the same thing as you though! That they should lighten up fairly quickly because they were blonde previously. Hopefully!

They just arrived yay! I'll be dying them later today. :)
