I like IT Cosmetics No.50 Primer. Its not magical, but its the only primer that made a difference by smoothing the surface of my skin.

I use the NYX Studio Perfect Primer and I've heard that it's a dupe for the Smashbox primer but I haven't tried that one myself so I can't confirm that.

I personally don't like Smashbox's primers. I definitely suggest getting the smaller travel sizes though. I have super dry skin and I really like L'Oreals Magic Lumi Primer (skinny white bottle). Hourglass & Makeup Forevers primers have amazing reviews but I have not tried either. I also really like Bare Minerals Prime Time and I swatched Becca's primer in the store the other day and I plan on purchasing it soon; it reminds me a lot of L'Oreals though but it looked amazing. Like I said though try getting samples if you can (I do this at Sephora) and travels sizes if you can't get samples because who wants to spend the money on products that aren't right for your skin.

I always hear mixed reviews for Smashbox-- about half of them say that it's all hype, and the other half swear by it. I believe it's kind of mattifying, though, and as a fellow dry-skinned gal, I have to say, matte isn't always flattering, because it could emphasize our dry patches. I tried the Laura Mercier at a Sephora trip once. It felt very moisturizing, but that wore off pretty fast. It gave my skin a nice texture, though. I can't really say too much about it because I didn't get to apply my foundation over it. I know this isn't high end, but I'm currently using the Almay Luminous CC Primer, and I love it. It's smoothing, luminizing, non-irritating, and it has titanium dioxide/ zinc in it, so it's got great sun protection. It never emphasizes my dry spots, and it's affordable, so I highly recommend giving it a try. ☺

Great one is Maybelline baby skin. But if your looking for a non drugstore, a awesome one I've been using for months is the bare minerals prime time.

My favorite one is the revlon photo ready primer the white one. I usually tap it into my pores and it really mattifyes and blurs the appearance of pore I've tried a ton of them but I keep going back to the revlon one. I also have dry skin and it feels very moisturizing!
