A Victorian Vanity Story: The Original No-Makeup Makeup Routine

I researched the types of cosmetics women of that era used and was shocked to learn how poisonous many of them were, and thus, wanted to provide as historically accurate depictions of them in this video. Some of the articles I found noted that some women took extreme measures to maintain youthful and pretty, including purposely coming into contact with those infected with consumption, now known as tuberculosis. The concept of this video dives into that territory of extremism and explores that "what-if" mentality. What if someone implemented every beauty extreme?

Victorians were oddly fascinated with death and were also highly superstitious, covering mirrors upon the death of a loved one. One of my viewers, Mahara, requested more gothic Victorian videos, so I wanted to play into that gothic essence by highlighting the darker and peculiar fascinations of the Victorians.
