You can try a lotion with an alpha hydroxy acid like AMLACTIN or LAC-HYDRIN. The acids in these lotions will exfoliate any dead surface skin cells that may be contributing to ashy, thickened or darkened skin like elbows & knees.

Precautions: And don't put this stuff on your face or on any other thin skinned areas like inbetween fingers & toes Because it may burn. And it doesn't smell good. A little pricier than the other lotions on the shelf.

And also are there any natural ways?

Its fine on the body & esp. knee elbows. The active ingredient is LACTIC ACID, it is derived from milk. I'm not saying these lotions are 100% natural, but I don't think anything natural is going to make any significant improvements.

Ok thanks but I hear like lemons work?

The high acidity in lemons will more than likely irritate & dry out your skin, simply counteracting what you're trying to do. You want to treat the source of the problem first by accelerating dead skin cell turnover. Bleaching dead skin with anything natural or unnatural won't work if you're putting it on dead skin. Get the dead skin off first and you should see some improvement. Once your skin is baby soft & its still not light enough then you can look into some other lightening agents.
