Using sunscreen will definitely help, just make sure it's a sport formula and that you apply it before practice so it's fresh. Exfoliation will help diminish the tan that's already there. Also, wearing clothes that cover more of your skin can help too.
And ladies- There's nothing wrong with having a tan, but there's also nothing wrong with being pale or wanting to protect your skin! ;)
