Omg I just dyed my hair using that dye! I used R3 auburn shade in my blackest black hair. It actually worked! But I hadn't dyed my hair in years and when I did none of the dyes worked.

Well here's the thing about dyes for "virgin hair." If you're dying your hair a darker color than it is currently, they will work just fine. If you're trying to go lighter, however, you'll need to use a color stripper or bleach it. I used to use Garnier all the time (I only stopped because they don't have my perfect shade of red, so I've switched to clairol) and I like it a lot. So if you're going darker, go for it. If you're trying to go lighter, yes, you'll need a color stripper to get the old dye out.
