I want to dye my hair the violet Red color Chaka Chan has. But I don't want to bleach my hair. The last time I did my curls lost their form and I was left with straight ends. So far I spoken to two different hair stylist and one says I don't have to bleach and she can just try a 40 on my hair because my hair is naturally black. Another says I "HAVE" to dye -_-. Also, I have(myself) achieved the Rihanna red hair a year ago without bleach by using the loreal hilights for dark hair product. So I'm wondering if there are other products out like that. (Idk if they have the color I want) I just don't want to use bleach.

I haven't heard of any lately! I've been looking for a non-bleach primer too. Let me know if you find one!

More than likely you will have to lift if you want a noticeable color but another option is putting the color on with a higher volume of developer but this causes damage as well as a hard color to remove in the long run. Another option is to try a soap cap under the dryer to lighten hair before color goes on. No matter what you will have to lift it which does cause damage. The loreal product you were talking about had to have a lifting agent of some kind either bleach or peroxide. As for your hair after care (if you lighten) get a really good moister treatment, lightened hair dries out resulting in limp hay like hair but curls crave moisture so a deep conditioning treatment 2-3 times a week is great! Plus I absolutely recommend deva curl its amazing at restoring frizz free curls!! (Color specialist :))

Oh ok. The lady at the salon told me she was using some type of Paul Mitchell hair coloring product was was just going to use a 40vol on my hair to lift. Yes, the loreal color I use I did use with a 30delevoper but it wasn't damaging on my hair like bleach was. Bleach just completely destroys my hair even if I don't leave it on for its whole process time.

Oh ok the stylist is probably going to use pm the color & mix it up with a 40vol developer to get a little lift, I would still get you a good deep conditioning treatment for your beautiful curls :) I went to Paul Mitchell the school :p I love their color line, good choice!
