It depends on how light you wanna go. If you lookin for a shade or two lighter then it won't turn orange. don't think highlights can be done at home about you can try ombre.

As someone with *some* dark hair that is in the process of lightening a small section, I do not feel a box dye will do anything aside from bring orange tones to your hair. I would proceed gradually to keep damage to a minimum and hit up a reputable salon.

I advise this as you do not have expertise in lifting and I would hate to see you regret it.

You can always do a strand test. check a small section of hair n see how the color looks.

That's a great idea, ladies. :) I always leave blonde to my friend/stylist. She forbid me from messing with my hair after I trimmed my bangs with meat scissors. :P

Thank you for all your tips girls! I really appreciate it. The color I have now is from garnier fructis, it's the darkest brown, which is basically my natural hair color. I'm just so tired of it being dark 😔 the beauty school is a great idea. Thanks again!! ❤️

You are paying a salon stylist for their expertise. This isn't a home job.

Adding lowlights will only make it darker, do do that either.
