Or should it be lighter than your skin tone? I just got some MAC Pro Longwear concealer and it's the exact same shade as my skin tone...NW20 (same as my powder foundation). Is that OK? Or should it be one shade lighter?

I usually buy concealer to match or closely match my skin tone or if you wear a foundation I try to match it to that. That way there are no inconsistencies with the colors!

You would only use a lighter shade if you want to highlight your face. If your not tryin to highlight but you jus want to cover blemishes n dark circles, the same shade is all you need!

Gotcha! On all the makeup tutorials I see on YouTube they are all so much brighter on the under eye.

Yea they are so bright becuz they are trying to highlight and conceal at the same time. But you don't have to do that if you don't want to
