I always end up with a crimp in my hair when I attempt using my curling iron. Should I investing in a wand? I also wonder how to do the back. My hair is very thick. and hits around my collarbone...oh and also very straight and hates to keep a curl!

Make sure when you get your hair wound up that you loosen the crimper and slowly twist the curling iron so that the hair twirls around the rod. Then you won't have crimps. Try a YouTube video on proper curling iron techniques.

Start curling your hair at the scalp, then lessen pressure on clamp and pull through hair instead is starting at the ends, better curl and doesn't damage and crimp ends as badly. Makeupbytiffanyd has a good tutorial on this! ;)
