I notice my foundation melts off or becomes blotchy after just an hour. I use primer and set it with a powder but it doesn't seem to help.

What can I do to keep this from happening?!

What foundation are you using? If it's hotter, heavier foundations tend to "melt" off.

Also, if it's not a water-resistant foundation it will definitely not stay on your face through hot weather.

The weather isn't too hot yet.

Do you have any recommendations for a good foundation? I also notice that if I touch my face, the foundation and powder come off on my hand. It's pretty bad. How can I keep this from happening?

That's odd. Do you layer your foundation to build more coverage? If you do, make sure to let it sit. It sounds like you have way too much product slathered on your skin. That, or maybe the primer you are using is way too greasy and is not doing nothing for yu makeup other than making it slip and slide. Which is probably what it is.

What primer are you using? What is your skin type before I can suggest anything?

I've been trying out the smashbox color correcting primer. And I only use one layer of foundation. I've been applying with the real techniques stippling brush.

Okay.. Well what foundation/powder are you using?

I've been using smashbox color correcting primer, neutrogena foundation, physician formula powder to set it.

It's probably the foundation itself unless it's waterproof or water resistant it will be transferable and "melt off" if you sweat or have oily skin - I personally just use a bb cream (that acts like a primer by itself) and a waterproof concealer for any discoloration but I set it with setting powder and setting spray and it stays all day even in the humid weather in TN.

You should really think about trying hourglass primer. It does an excellent job of keep makeup budge-free.

Yes the veil mineral primer is my all time favorite for keeping me matte! Also you should try investing in a better foundation, I love the MUFE Matte Velvet+

Only if you're oily though, if not you may just be applying way too much primer than you need

Can too much primer really do that? How do I know how much to apply?

I agree with the other girls, you only need a very small amount or primer or your foundation is just going to slide right off your base :)

Aleighnna, off topic but what shade are you in Mat Velvet? I've always wanted to try it but it's not sold in stores so I can't try it out and you look to be as pale as me :)

What I have learned from reading and my dear friend ms Jackie is that if you have oily skin and you put foundation for dry skin that will slide right off. Water based primer to water based foundation.
Don't apply as much primer.

I'm going to try less primer. I also got a sample of the hourglass veil mineral primer. Excited to try something new!

You may even be able to try a 24hr foundation?
