I have similar acne, this is how I keep my spots to a minimum;
I use the clarisonic every night on the lowest setting
I was prescribed Erythromycin topical ointment and wow this stuff helps so much! It helps prevent acne as well as make current spots go away. It also doesn't cause so much dryness like I'm used to. Def ask your dr about it.
I also recommend a good moisturizer and night serum to help rebuild the collagen in your skin :) good luck!

I was prescribed that too Brandy but unfortunately did not work for me and made my face all red and blotchy and bring out all spots and made them red and angry :(

Try tea tree oil or freederm gel(:

Hi I'm Abigayle, I'm new to beautylish, the best and the most affective way to get rid of acne is to apply a dap of toothpaste on the acne and sleep with it on. This will dry the pimples out! I did this and it worked great! Just apply, sleep, and wash the next morning as simole as that!;)

Please do not apply toothpaste to the area. It may cause irritation and worsen the condition.

I found natural products worked well for me - willow bark cleanser, witch hazel toner n tea tree oil spot treatment - it helps clear my cystic acne - also changing my diet to cut out dairy, drink plenty of water and eat more veggies as well as exercising regularly has also helped - now I still have the scars that I'm trying to get rid of but if I break out it's only 2-3 pimples during the time I get my period and that's it.

Do not do any natural remedies without researching it! Do not cut out any good group without talking to a doctor or supplementing it properly! Your body needs calcium...

You can get calcium from plenty of other sources my dear including soy milk which actually has more calcium than cows milk - but definitely only use products that you are not sensitive to - which for me just happens to be many synthetic preservatives but it will be different for you - regardless with hormonal acne a healthy diet and exercise usually helps for most people.

I agree you shouldn't cut out anything drastically but dairy is not the only place you can get calcium and dairy is actually not as good for you as we are always lead to believe. A lot of people have issues with it not even including lactose intolerance. It is not something our bodies can easily process. Many people have improved skin when they cut it out. I would definitely research it.
Also you could look into Aczone and a retin-A cream. I am on both together and they have helped dramatically. You could ask about them and see if you can sample them or get a prescription for them.

From a medical perspective, certain at home remedies conflict with medications. Just because something is natural does not mean it is " healthy".

^ I agree with that. Natural stuff can have just as bad a reaction as stuff that has chemicals in it. Chemicals are not all bad and natural is not all good. It's all about balance.

I agree with seeing a dermatologist for sure but I personally am not a fan of the medical or pharmaceutical industry in general as I feel they make tons of money off the sick and dying so to stay in business they need to keep people sick and dying otherwise there would be no need for these industries - so that's why I personally prefer the more natural product route (especially since most synthetic chemicals started from a natural source for example salicylic acid is naturally derived from willow bark) but none of my suggestions are for at home remedies you can buy willow bark based cleansers at the store as well as witch hazel toners and tea tree oil spot treatments but I understand everyone's skin is different and a dermatologist can give you the best medical advice for your personal skin care issues so that is probably the best route for most people but I don't appreciate when someone asks for suggestions and then others try to put down the suggestions that others have posted - everyone's skin is different and I am just saying what has worked for me personally - it doesn't necessarily mean that it will work for you or that you have to change your routine to fit mine - it's just a suggestion and an opinion so please take it as just that - thanks.

Thanks for the helpful replies girls:) I'm actually on an obagi system regimen. and obagi is really strong. it worked for me for a xouple of months but seems like its no longer working. I've been taking zinc and fishoil with EPO now. I hope this works. I just have to manage my hormonal acne and I have no idea what else I should do. I also agree with the natural remedy thing. I tried oatmeal and honey mask, my face definitely did not agree.

Won't toothpaste make marks on my skin? it seems to be too drying and too harsh :(

Go to ulta and purchase Mario Badescu's 'special healing powder' and 'drying cream'. your acne will be noticeably gone by 2 weeks. I've suffered from cystic since I was 16 (now 20)

I'd seek out a licensed, respected derm and do my recon. My derm of the last six years changed my life for the better. Don't accept that you should have scars...it is preventable for many and can be kept to a minimum when a great derm steps in. Please...do not use toothpaste. *sigh*

Maybe you need hormone medication to balance them instead of acne meds that's what I'm trying to figure out too.

Peppermint tea is another natural remedy that helps hormonal acne. I drink one cup every night before bed :) also, I heard taking zinc & evening primrose oil supplements helps too.

Yep, I take zinc picolinate and omega 3 with evening primrose oil actually. I'm a nurse by profession and I'm pretty much in to reading and learning my condition. I've been to a lot of doctors but it seems no one can figure out what fits me. though now, I'm trying a new regimen. hopefully this time its works. thanks girls!

I used the "av?ne cleanance" products, in Germany it's available at the pharmacy. It worked sooo good, and there are many different products for the different acne types. But I would recommend talking to you're doctor, too. When I started to take an different birth control pill, my acne disappeared. :)
