So I'm volunteering to do makeup for my school's musical this may! (in my high school they're a pretty big deal) so kind of two questions in one

1. the theme of the play is set in the 1920's so I was thinking maybe berry or red lips with dramatic blush , but any ideas? especially for the eyes.

2. what are the ESSENTIAL things I should bring to do the makeup/any tips for stage makeup?

thanks (:

I did makeup for theater all through high school even when I was in the plays/musicals and I was head of the makeup committee for two years. To answer your questions:
1. Dark eyebrows, dark brown shadows, berry and dark red lips with bright blush is the look. Also they used some brighter colors on the eyes as well like a dark teal. You could also go further with having the girls paint there nails dark berry colors but leaving the moons of their nails blank. That was a very big trend in the 1920's.

2. Essential things are if course any kind I stage makeup! I love Ben Nye. You should carry several different colors of base and face powder. To match bases to the actors skin tone, make sure the base is two shades darker because with stage makeup, you don't want them to be washed out by the lights. Bring makeup sponges, lip sticks, different blushes, basically essential items. A good thing to keep in your bag is disposable lip brushes, you can find them at any drug store. Just so you don't contaminate the products. Also brush cleaner!

Ill insert several pictures below of me from a musical.
