My face continually looks dull and I want to brighten it up. Someone give me suggestions. I'm not a makeup pro and can't do all that contouring stuff plus don't have the time.

Right now I'm using Covergirl Clean liquid foundation, covergirl's loose powder, Covergirl mascara that comes in the orange tube, maybelline gel eyeliner... rimmel true match concealer.

Am I using too cheap of products? I read a lot of good reviews on too faced makeup. Is it good? I was thinking of getting one of their highlighters to brighten my face?

Don't listen to me. But less is more, at least for me. Whenever I wear foundation or even a bb cream, I feel like my face looks dull.

Do you cleanse, tone, & moisturize your face twice a day and exfoliate once a week? Exfoliating & moisturizing can help with dullness.

What's your skin type?

For highlighters I like The Balm Mary Lou manizer it's my favorite that I've tried.

You look great!! You're really pretty. I wish I didn't have to wear foundation but I want my skin tone even and it just won't be without it. It'll get all red.

To brighten your face up you could use an illuminating liquid under your makeup or mixed with you foundation

-MAC strobe cream
-Becca shimmering skin perfecter
-Revlon skin lights

There are so many options. For a little extra glow, apply one of those products to the high points of your cheeks, you can also use a powder is you prefer

-Mary Lou manizer
-Kevyn Aucoin candlelight
-MAC soft and gentle

Use your regular powder only on your t-zone, don't apply it to the parts you put highlighter on.

I cleanse and moisturize every day... sometimes I skip at night though :/ I tone sometimes. And no I don't exfoliate once a week :/ Tgat really makes a big difference? I'll try harder then. Are my products too cheap though?

Thank you!! That helps a lot. I'll check out those things.

Exfoliating? Yes for me at least, it removes dead skin cells that your constantly shedding. Honestly I'm not fond of any cover girl products but that's just me.

If you could let us know what skin type (dry, normal, oily, combo), type of finish, and coverage you like, we could give you some different suggestion to try.

I would suggest using a blush (Maybelline master glaze blush Pinched Pink), bold lipstick(lime crime, KVD, etc.), and a highlighter (WnW Fergie Shimmer palette Rose Champagne)! You can use any product, say it's worth $1 and make it look like a $20 product. I'm exaggerating a bit, but you know what I mean. It's all about technique! Usually, if I don't have time, I skip mascara, eye shadow, and eyeliner and just use blush, tinted lip gloss, and foundation.
I'm not a huge fan of Too Faced, and I don't have their highlighter. I usually stick to buying drugstore blushes and highlighters, since I don't use them enough to get my money's worth if I buy them at high end prices. Too Faced's highlighter might work for you, so give it a go. Plus, you can return it if it doesn't! :)

I think I'm normal. Definitely not oily. I honestly don't know much about makeup. Covergirl is all I've ever used but I wang something better. I want it to look natural but have a decent amount of coverage because I'm pale and my skin gets red easily, I want it even toned. I don't know about type of finish. Anything that doesn't look dry and dull. Just bright. And a little more moist? Not like shiny though. Haha I'm bad at this :/ thank you for trying to help.

Jaime, I don't really like how blush looks on me. I'd like to try lipsticks sometime but not now. I have better eyes than lips and I like to focus on that. I don't think I'm good enough at technique to make cheap stuff look good...

No I understand ya :), I personally like loreal true match for drugstore foundation. They also have a loreal lumi foundation that creates a dewy natural look to the skin you might like. Lexi's suggestions will also help you get a dewy natural look as well.

One more suggestion is to find you basic undertone before you choose a foundation so that it matches you skin.

How to find your basic undertone and match the foundation to your jawline/neck in natual sunlight.

Look at the inside of your forearms in natural sunlight. See the veins there? If your veins are appearing more blue, your cool undertones. If your seeing more green, you're warm. So, blue veins = cool skin, green veins = warm skin. If you can't tell whether they're blue or green your probably neutral.

Also if you wear more or look better in silver jewelry your more cool. If you wear more gold then warm. If you look good in both your probably neutral.

This is a picture of a girl wearing the loreal lumi foundation, if your interested :) ✨link✨ http://www.alteregostyle.com/en/review-of-loreal-lumi-magique-foundation

Hope this helps a bit :)

You should definitely try watching youtube videos on foundation routines or search "everyday makeup routine" just to see how some others do it. I personally use mostly drugstore products and even though they don't cost a lot, they are good quality and work great for me. Don't purchase expensive products because you think you have to!

Wow that all really helps a lot!! Thank you! Ill try that loreal true match :) and I may try buying that Mac strobe cream to put under foundation. Lynzie, I think I have a cool undertone but I'm not sure. I'll check tomorrow since its night here now haha. How would I know which foundation to get based on my undertone? Also, what's a good primer? Keegan, thanks that's really reassuring :)

For the loreal true match foundations. When you go to look at all of them, they'll have either a c for cool, n for neutral, or w for warm and then you just pick the one closest to your skins depth level (how dark you are). For primers I typically like silicone based ones (smashbox, too faced, benefits porefessional, or tarte). I'm not sure what primers are good drugstore wise since I haven't used any. (You might could make another post asking "what's a good drugstore primer" or primer if you want some answers. Maybe the others girls can help more. If you want to try out some high end primers though, you can go to ulta or sephora and ask for samples of them or some times they'll have deluxe size primers for sale up front near the cash registers for $10-12. :)

To brighten up your skin, use a primer that has a luminizer infused with it or that has some sort of brightening formula.

^ Oh yeah benefits that gal has is a brightening primer if you want to check that one out.

Just to let you know any corals will brighten your look if you have a light to medium toned skin ;)
