@Lindsay H. "ooh that's one fine shoulder you got there" omg lol that's hilarious. But I do agree that butt cheeks shouldn't hang out of your shorts and crop tops shouldn't really show everything including your underboobs, but short shorts and longer crop tops should be fine.

We have to wear uniforms with shirts/ skirts above the knee at the shortest. I guess it's okay bc it's a private school, but I live no uniform days!

I honestly HATE my schools dress code. Shorts and skirts below fingertip, tank tops 3 fingers wide, NO FLIP FLOPS, no undergarments showing, no super low shirts...😒The flip flop rule bothers the CRAP out of me. Also, the dress code counts in Gym too! Girls can't wear tanks or shorts shorter than fingertip length. I almost died this year because I got so hot(I'm exaggerating...) I wish my school wasn't so strict...

I agree with @Leslie N. and @Lindsay H. It's so annoying.

About the tank too thing...I agree. My class was having a discussion about tank tops and one guy was saying "it's just shoulders and it not like we're going to be like 'dang girl, that's a niiiiiice shoulder!'" He said it with a southern accent and it was hilarious!!

The flip-flop rule! Ughhh!! I did a petition against that rule and I got everyone in the whole school to sign (except for 1girl) and they still don't let us wear flip-flops. I even got the teachers to sign it!!

My school rules are:
1. No spaghetti straps because it shows your bra straps or whatever
2. Our shorts have to be longer than when you were to put your hands down by your sides they have to reach the bottom of your fingertips.
3. Not to much cleavage showing.
4. No sandals or any other shoes that have no straps to hold your foot.
5. No red or blue laces on shows because you know "gang colors" I don't know:/ 6. No pijamas or sweats
7. No muscle tees
&&& a few more 😐😐
I think they're necessary because some girls do go too far and are wearing wayyyy too short shorts. I don't really mind them. It's whatever I guess.

Will someone start another debate? I'm loving these debates and hearing all you different opinions. I would start one but I can't think of a topic...

Yup totally agree with you Jacqlyn! Same thing at my school. Only certain people get to do whatever they want! It's totally not fair.

Lmao I remember the gang thing hahaha they were real strict about that in my middle school, because where I'm from gangs were a huge thing lol. We had uniforms though so yeah, if anyone wore a red or blue belt or whatevz they'd be suspended for 3 days. Lollll.

I live in ON, Canada so the schooling system is a but different in my elementary/middle school they don't have any rule about gang colours. The new school I'm starting this year is really strict about that apparently. I think it's a dumb rule. Like Jacqlyn said...there are colours in the world! Ooh! What a surprise!

Why are you guys excusing guys for having 'raging hormones and not being able to control themselves'?? girls have raging hormones too when they go through puberty, but I guess the only difference is that girls are forced to mature faster usually
but anyway at my school I'm not really sure what the dress code is, but I've never really seen people wearing booty shorts or anything like that but girls do get called out more than guys

Well I am homeschooled but when I did go to school, our dress code was about the same.
I do not think it is stupid or strict. It is school, not a fashion show. I agree with Renay. Boys are dumb and have a one track mind. Anddddd they wouldn't stare if girls would wear more clothing. Just saying. And like Renay said, women ARE oversexualized. Wanna know why? Thank the media for putting women out like objects now every female has to suffer. Ah yes and I do agree with Leslie. Now you can hate on guys but what about the girls who don't want to see it? When I was in school, I certainly didn't want to see asses, tits or stomachs. I was in elementary school and this chick wore a midriff. Even back then, as young as I was, I thought it was stupid. I can't really control what people wear but modesty should be practiced especially by younger girls and especially in this oversexed society we live in. But anyway, I am all for uniforms in schools. I use to be against them but as I got older and more mature. I don't really see any disadvantages to uniforms. Everyone is wearing the same thing so that nerdy girl can't get made fun of for her baggy pants and gothic tee (I was that kid). Wouldn't have to worry about skimpy clothing or baggy pants below the butt with muscle tees that expose the side and gross hairy arnpits. I have an unpopular opinion but I stand by it 100%.

At my school the dress code is shorts at your thumb and skirts at your longest finger. But in reality, no one follows the dress code at all all the girls wear short shorts. I have seen crop tops and camis and open back smock dresses and flyaway back tanks and deep armhole muscle tanks. Leggings and short skirts too. Tbh sometimes the girls I overboard with like crop tops and short with their butts hanging out I mean really? But most of the time I think what we wear is fine. I would wear short shorts that cover my butt plus a tee and I think that's fine. I mean my school is a high performing school actually, so I don't think it affects our education that much!

No one is excusing guys, chica. It's the truth. Lol, you answered your own question, girls usually know better and guys don't ever wear clothes that show off their body not are they sexualized? So...? Lmao. I'm just saying, that's the truth of the matter and it is freaking distracting FOR BOTH SEXES.

I mean if I saw a girl with her booty hanging out and her knockers up to her chin ima look. Lol. It's not just a looker for guys, girls too. I'm just saying 95% of the time guys can't help but look period. Hell they'll even look if you're fully covered, their hormones are raging as I said and they're just wired that way. Lol.

I should have said guys won't look *as much* if girls are covered. I did a silent experiment in school once. I picked out a few female subjects and on the days they wore short shorts and low cut tees, guys were more likely to stop and stare but on the days the same girl (s) wore jeans and a hoodie, guys may glance but they didn't do a whole lot of staring. Now it could have been just a coincidence but eithet way, guy or girl, clothed or not, it's just human nature to stare at something that catches your attention. I'm still all for modesty though.

In my high school I know for a fact there is a dress code but nobody ever follows it and nobody ever addresses it when the girls wear things they shouldn't be. I mean I would be walking in the hall and since it was starting to get hot girls were wearing shorts and I could literally see their buts hanging out. The cleavage thing is a huge thing at my school to. Girls pull their shirts down and it's gross. 😟 and of course they guys love it. ^and I agree with Renay haha their hormones truly are RAGING!

This is my opinion on this particular matter. It may be different then most but I like to focus on the big picture of such rules.
When you go to school, your sole purpose is to focus on Education.
However, school is also meant to prepare us for the career world, help us grow in life, find ourselves, and we see ourselves change and grow. We are met with drama, rules, and all kinds of nonsense that we will see daily in our lives outside of school.
I personally believe that the reason for these school uniform rules are a little more than 'because guys can't handle themselves.' I actually believe that is just a good sugar coating reason because how many sexual assaults has their been where women are fully clothed anyways? These men are predators regardless of how much you are showing, and many have very unfortunately attack minors in which I can assure you a 6 year old girls priority is how much body she can show off.( My best advice to you girls is to learn to defend yourself. ) Of course not talking about your typical 15 year old teenage boy, to clarify.
The valuable lesson I have learned from going to a uniformed school is professionalism.
In your CAREER ( not job at Starbucks, your CAREER ) you will have to dress appropriately. ( Not including creative careers such as MUA's, Tattoo Artists, etc. )
In the business world, in the law world, medical world, you won't see a nurse in a crop top and little booty shorts. A lawyer you are paying lots of hard earned $$$ won't be wearing a dress shorter than her undies, a police officer in a tube top and tight leather leggings.
What you choose to wear on your time off from work is your issue.
School dress codes are preparing you for what's to come next in your careers, there are even college/university professors who have admitted to giving lesser grades to those students who come to class badly dressed because they want to see a future professional, not that smiley face tattoo you got that *one* night on your butt cheek.
So I don't see these rules as silly or absurd, these rules will follow you in life into your careers and it's a good way of teaching younger kids how to dress appropriately. My school would do a 'Business Professional' dress up every week on Wednesdays.. Suits, nails, hair the whole cha-ching. Anyone who dressed up in clubbing gear was sent right back home and given 10 F's.

Of course it's bigger than the guys and their hormones, but that's the main concern of all the ladies on here so that's what we discussed. You make a valid point, though. :)

I agree with Kitty. I like having a school dress code.
We go to school to learn, not for a fashion show.

@Kitty K. Beautifully spoken. What I was trying to say was that girls should be able to wear what they want without having a middle aged man send her home to change because it gives guys boners. If she does dress suggestively, it's her problem. She wouldn't get a career or an A+. That's her issue tho. Schools are taking the rules a little too far, considering the fact that it's not really the real deal just yet and they tell us to be ourselves all the time, but how do we do that with these restrictions? Just my opinion tho.
