Hello everyone!
I have medium length hair and every time I curl it... It poofs up like a poodle! How do I get soft curls that don't make my hair look shorter than it already does? Products, advice, tricks... Anything is appreciated!! (:

I like to curl the ends of my hair with my straightener very loosely that way they look kind of soft and wavy. Then afterwards play around and tousle them to make it look sort of effortless and softer (:

Use a curling iron that is 2inches or 1 1/2inch, the size makes the curls be more soft and loose and they won't make your hair look short!

The bigger the barrel, the softer the curl! If you want softer ones, use one starting at about 1-1/2. Also, to create that really soft look without poofing it all up, don't shake your hair, but just run your fingers through it, It'll create a beautiful look.

Btw, since you have short hair, try not to curl all the way up to the root because that will just completely take away your length. Instead, start at about half way down to keep a bit of length. =D

If you want tight ringlets thats 1" or smaller. If you want tousels you can also 1" and bigger. But even with the One incher when you curl you can leave out at least one or two centimeters from the root and start the wave or curl there. You can do that and incroporate the rest of the strands into the iron without necessarily just curling the ends. It will maintain that still longer look. I hope it helps.

I use mousse and that has changed the way my curls look & last do well! It's no longer frizzy and after it curls/cools I spray with finishing hair spray to hold and I pull apart the pieces so its not one massive curl or anything
