Hey girls,
You're going to laugh at me but this is a genuine question.
How do you curl hair? Everytime I do it, it looks terrible and really poodle-ish lmao. I know its a basic thing that everyone can do but if I curl all of it, it looks poodleish as I said and if I pick random pieces it looks weird and half done. I've tried tying it up different ways but it never falls nicely.
I have a ghd thats 4 1/2 inches around, a curler thats 2 1/4 inches around (but it gives really small ugly curls) and another curler that again, gives rubbish curls.
please help me, I really would like to have curly hair this weekend.

I know I'm asking a lot to get it this pretty but aim for the moon, right? ;p.

Take it in sections. Bottom, middle, top. I use my flat iron or wand, I HATE the curls you get with a curling iron lol. With the straightener, you just take it near your roots, clamp down, make a 360 degree turn, pull the hair over it to where it's facing downwards again and just pull down lol. Not sure if that made sense but there's tons of YouTube videos

There are plenty of videos on how to successfully curl your hair. you can try one of those and practice with the curling iron off.

Also make sure it's facing outwards? Like the chord is by your face. On both sides, so that way the curls will be away from your face lol.

Maybe this chicks pictorial will explain it better for you! Then turn it the opposite way for the left side.

You can also make the curls tighter or looser, for loose just pull straight down for tight hold it and go down like an inch at a time and hold it each time for like 10 seconds

And do you pick random strands or do all the hair?
Thank you Renay this really helped a lot, I'm going to try tomorrow :)

Depends on if you want little curls, or big curls! Lots of curls, or not. I usually just take one inch sections. :) I also like sectioning off my hair into the bottom, middle, and top! I was easier for me when my hair was long

I will practice and post a photo on your page :) Really? I always found it easier styling my chin length hair.. probably because there was so little to do lmao.

Embrace the low maintenance while you have it! Once its long again you'll remember how much of a pain in the ass it is trying to get it looking good everyday haha.

I have such a different opinion on it! I feel like with my long hair I could just roll out of bed, brush my hair, and be good! Now, I feel like I actually need to style the short hair to look good :( lol. You're right though, as far as not taking so long to style it! Lol. Good luck on curling your hair, for sure show me when you're done!

Comb it out with a brush afterwards so it won't look poodleish.

I love my heated rollers for the above results. They sell them in all kinds of sizes, relatively cheap. It's so hassle free.. Just pop them on and go about your business. I can do my make up, eat, get the mail, anything. As soon as I'm ready to leave I take em out and play a bit. It takes me 5 minutes and I don't have to part my hair in any specific way unless I desire some kind of specific hair style.
For me the secret is getting my hair a bit damp prior, so that it sets to that shape.

I'm totally following this thread because I have no idea how to curl hair either! When I straightened my hair I spent an hour trying to figure out how to curl it with a clamp curling iron... Needless to say I ended up doing heatless curls because it literally boggled my mind!

I had the same problem! Whenever I tried curling my hair with a curling Iron it just looked funny and the curls never turned out well. I've been practicing with a straightener (the chi) but I'm still not great. I recently found a GREAT product for curling. It's the "conair you curl" 1/2 to 1 inch wand. I got it at a walgreens I think. It was around 30 dollars. The curls are a little too tight at first but I just finger comb them and they look pretty much like your pictures. I swear by it! It's the only thing I use to curl now!

Dnt comb it too much just enough to nt make em too spiraly. and apply a little oil or mousse for d poofyness.

Or instead of usn a actual comb use your fingers to comb through your hair and separate the curls :)

I too use my straightener, fabulous curls. Everytime. :)
