Ok. So I have tried the no-poo for a long time and was ok with it. I am now back on regular shampoo (Lush- big, Paul Mitchell-tea tree and Redkin-clarifying) routine. Now I am trying to extend the time between shampoos.
Here is my real problem-o. I sweat. I sweat hardcore. I have been working out and I have to shower. I tried just rinsing it in the shower and it was still really gross after. Any suggestions?!

If I were you I would shampoo just for the sake of getting the sweat out of my hair. I can't think of a benefit of sweat sinking back into the scalp but I'm nowhere near a professional.

Have you try dry shampoo.

No amount of dry shampoo can fix this hot mess...and yes, I have several cans. I use it for the general, in-between days.

Why do you not want to use shampoo?

I use baking soda to wash and apple cider vinegar to condition, it restores the pH balance.
if you're open to it, give it a try!

Just wash your hair there's clearly no other solution especially when it's you sweating I'm sure you don't want to smell either

Try a cleansing conditioner. Or I just use normal conditioner on it's own between washes and it works fine for me.

I have tried the baking soda and cider vinegar, Hanna, thanks for the reminder! that might be enough power to get me through! thanks everyone for the suggestions. and for those that asked why I just don't shampoo, I have really fine hair. when I shampoo everyday, it seemed to get greasy within hours. the less I have the shampoo, the better.
Meghan, what kind of cleansing conditioner would you suggest?

I've used the one from Pantene and wasn't too impressed. I'm on a similar trying not to shampoo, for different reasons, and I've found using my regular works just fine. My hair still comes out clean and moisturized. Give it a try, it may work for you.

Baking soda can be really bad to use anyways. Honestly I would just use a sulfate free shampoo like L'Oreal EverPure lines. I don't recommend any other Cleansing Conditioner but Wen. I have tried others (one from Walgreens and L'Oreal but they were horrible).

If your trying to go completely shampoo free, you have to remember to switch the routine up periodically. Baking soda and ac vinegar works good, I good way to switch things up is to add a castle shampoo ( 1 tbsp soap mixed with 1 cup water) , an herbal rinse ( yarrow, rosemary, nettle, chamomile) just take the herbs you want to use, place them in a heat proof container, pour boiling water over the herbs and let cool to room temp. Strain the plant matter from the water, then apply to your hair, let set 5 min and rise out. if you think you need more moisture add some aloe to the mix. Borax is an old home staple for hair but only use about a teaspoon to 1.5 cups water, Let the mix set 4 hours before using follow with a vinegar rinse. My advice is to only bs or borax wash once a week and rinse thoroughly daily to help remove the oily nasty feeling.

Baking soda has a ph of 9.8, any vinegar ranges from a ph of 2 to 4. Always use a higher portion of water to vinegar so it will bring the ph closer to the 5-6 range. most hair falls at a normal ph range of 5.5 to 7.5.
