I take sections from the roots and comb back with a teasing comb then carefully brush it back to look neater on the top. Just watch tutorials on youtube for more information (:

You can try parting your hair from ear to ear towards the top of your head, like an extremely high half up half down style, then apply hairspray and tease, there are teasing brushes if you wanted to try them they have them at Sallys Beauty Supply, basically tease everything under the part don't worry how messy it looks just focus on getting the height you want and making sure it's even. Then put the parted section over all the teased hair and brush to blend it in. You can add a little more hairspray to make sure it stays in place and voila! Lol hope this helps (:
