My cousin uses that on her kids! It's very gentle on the skin and apparently it does work! It has something to do with the oils in it or something... Idk. I just know that my cousin has very little kids and they won't let her out on regular like bug spray because the smell and taste. For them, it works!

Carry a lavender-scented dryer sheet in your pocket. It repels mosquitoes and scorpions as well as some spiders.
Unfortunately, the only way to repel ticks is chemical insect repellent with DEET, so if you are skipping bug spray make sure you do a thorough check for ticks. Little bloodsucking bastards hide in the most annoying places!
