I've currently got plum/purple hair which has more red tones in. I still want purple hair but more blue/purple tones, if that make sense? Can anyone recommend any box dyes that are more this?

Where do you live? I believe Schwartzkopf does a cool toned purple. My friend really liked this. I'm pretty sure this is permanent. If you'd rather damage less your hair and change it up, veggie dye is what you need. You just smear it on your hair, let it sit and rinse off. You could try a good bright blue and test it on one strand to see if it mixes the way you like it. But I think it's going to look great, just a great cool purple. To achieve this I would recommend you try Crazy Color dye in Violette- it's more of a blue/indigo than a purple, and layered on top of a reddish plum it'll look gorgeous. Just promise you'll try it on one strand to check for color and/or chemical reactions with the box dye underneath.

Anyway, good brands for veggie dye are Pravana, Manic Panic, Directions, StarGazer and Crazy color that I know of.

I live the UK and I've already had blue hair, I've been bying my for 5 years so I know a bit. I don't want a bright purple though, I want a dark purple just without as many red tones in? if that makes sense.

Don't worry about reactions though, I've used every branded hair dye I can get my hands on and never had a reaction so it shouldn't be a problem.

I have had really bad experiences with schwartzkopf. I do purple in my hair too. Just did a dye from a Dutch brand called I-color in the shade 4vv. I hiiiiighly recommend it.
