So about a month ago I dyed my hair. It was supped to be a medium brown, and came out black! I've been researching color removal products and seen mostly good reviews on this product.
before this dye job, my hair had not been touched in two years (no dye at all) and was more so of my natural hair color (gingery light brown) it had grown so long from not dying and taking better care of it. Then I decided I wsnted my hair all one color (there were a bit of highlights and a natural ombre). and now I'm stuck with this ucky black color and I have no money to go to a professional. I also am scared that this product may badly damage my hair. it just took so long to get it to the health its in today
My questions:
Will it turn my hair too brassy?
Is the damage major?
Since my roots are a bit lighter now, should I start from the bottom of my hair and work up?
Thanks for viewing and any experience, ideas, and opinions are very much welcome!!

It turns your hair brassy in color, its meant as a color stripper. The damage was minimal, for me at least. I colored my hair the same day. I did my whole head so I'm not sure about the last question. If you need to know more I'm willing to answer more!

OK, so most likely I'll have to dye again afterwards?
what color did you strip out of your hair? and did it get all of it out?

Yea you have to color it again after. I stripped black out of my hair and it got it all out. I didn't do a hair mask or anything special, just left my conditioner on a little longer. I don't think I colored my hair immediately after I used color oops, I think I rinsed, conditioned, waited for it to dry, then colored it.

Before going for color oops. Why not try a few diy things. These are a few options I use to get my hair from blue/whatever color back to blonde. Color oops doesn't work on veggie dye so I'm unable to use it, but I have a few times. It's very hit or miss. It either does absolutely nothing or gives exactly what's needed. It also stinks. For days lol. Like rotten eggs. And you'll end up throwing away any towels you use that week because they'll stink and not wash out lol. It also dries out the hair and damages the ends quite a bit. You'd definitely need a trim after.

But anyway, find a harsh shampoo (I usually use baby shampoo. It's harsh on the hair but easy on the eyes), dandruff shampoos and cheap sulfate shampoos are also good. I'll wash my hair, and leave the shampoo all over my hair for about 30 minutes. Then deep condition and rinse. It usually lifts quite a bit of color. Another option is dish soap. It lifts the most color, but is also extremely drying. But just washing with dish soap for a few days can lift huge amounts of color, and leaving it in for a bit (10-60 minutes) can completely take out the color that's been deposited. You'd need to do lots of deep conditioning, I'd recommend immediately conditioning and leaving it on for a few hours, then follow up with an oil treatment. My hair returns back to it's healthy hydrated state after about a week, maybe two of deep conducting and oils.

I'd try these first, and then if all else fails use color oops. But since you're just looking to lighten the color and not completely return it to its original uneven color (which is likely what color oops would do) I'd just try to gently lessen it rather than completely remove it.

Thanks you so much Allison!
and Alyx, I actually wouldn't mind having my old color back! Having this ugly color really makes me appreciate the nice color it was.. but have you used any of those methods on dyed black hair?

Mine didn't stink, I didn't need a trim after either. It maybe depends on your hair I guess...

Hair masks will mend damage over time.

I have used them on black, color oops didn't work. I had the under layer of my hair black and they all lightened it to a brown, I'd do them for one week every 4-6 weeks and I got my hair to my original blonde state in less than 8 months. Though yours would go to whatever color it was before it was dyed.

Allison, you're lucky then. I've used it a few times on myself, and friends and family. It smelt so bad and did do noticeable damage on almost all of them.

Yea. That's weird it's happened to you and not me. It just smelled like chemicals kind of. haha.

Jasminee, if you ever use baking soda on your hair you need to rinse with Apple cider vinegar to restore the ph balance. It's also waaay to harsh on the hair long term, it really messes with the natural ph balance.

And Allison, it is weird lol. It smelt like rotten eggs had been in my bathroom for months lol. It was disgusting. The first time I used it I had to put a fan in the bathroom to make the smell go out the window lol. It was so over powering. I learnt the lesson of not doing it in a small space lol

I like color oops it works well and I do notice the rotten egg smell lol..On the box it says to continue to wash with shampoo and rinse over and over the more you keep rinsing the more the color washes out usually I'm in the shower rinsing it out for 45 minutes.

I can't believe you're still not happy with it. I only thought it was a little on the dark side for you but still pretty. It hasn't faded at all?

It will turn your hair majorly brassy (from what I've seen) so be ready to dye it asap. If you so to Sally to get the color oops ask them what the least damaging brand they would suggest for dying it. I was there yesterday and worried about how dry damaged my ends are and they sent me home with One & Only argan hair color and it came with free nourishing developer:) GOOD LUCK!

My moms a hair stylist and she told me to was it out with dish soap it works just as well just a little slower. the only thing is you should condition your hair afterward. ❁

Omg Angela, I wanted to like it so much but it seems I dislike it more by the day! the roots faded, but that's it! So now I feel it looks even worse. Grrr, I wish there was a hair fairy that could zap my hair back to how it was before this mess lol But I guess we have to live with our mistakes! (until were rich enough to pay someone to fix it for us) haha maybe I'm being a bit delusional. but yea, I definitely can't afford a salon trip with the holidays coming up!
