What makes foundation look bumpy? I had always assumed it was contested skin, but it has recently been happening to me and only when wearing makeup. Bare my skin is pretty clear and my pores aren't super noticeable. I haven't changed any makeup or skincare products recently, which is especially confusing. I use NARS sheer glow, UD 24/7 concealer pencil and NARS creamy radiant concealer for undereyes and a flat foundation brush. I've noticed the stippled look with both NARS products (concealer is worse than the foundation) but not the urban decay. Any ideas why this is happening or how to prevent it?

I think I see what you mean. I don't have any experience with the foundation you're using but my best guess is that since it doesn't happen with your other products that its the product itself; either the way it reacts to your skin or maybe it takes longer to dry and you're applying other products on top of it too soon? Again, this is just my best guess but I hope it helps :)

Hopefully someone can help us, Erika and Janelle!
I know it must have something to do with the products, but I've been using both for a while so I just don't get why it's only suddenly started happening!

It's usually because of the glow illuminated pigment from the foundation is bringing forward what's underneath the skin and when you take a picture the lighting catches it.:-) what you don't see in person can show up in pictures. Also be careful not to pile on more illuminating products on top of that foundation.

Thanks alma! I've definitely noticed that when using illuminators, so it makes sense it could happen with other "glowy" products. Does that mean there's subtle congestion under the skin that just isn't visible on its own yet? And how can we minimize/avoid the texturized look?

I experienced the same exact thing and my cause was due exactly to what Alma mentioned. I was using Dior Star and topping off with Guerlain Meteorites after applying my setting powder. I was blaming the foundation when my daughter stepped in and corrected me...told me to not use the two together. I use a gentle exfoliating cleanser sometimes in the morning to help give my skin is smooth canvas to work with followed by serum and a nice moisturizer to plump up the skin.

That makes so much sense! I just picked up Too Faced Candlelight Glow illuminator and have been playing with it. I can totally imagine I got some onto my foundation brush, which explains why both NARS products seemed bumpy but not the urban decay pencil, which doesn't need the brush. I never really felt like the NARS foundation did much in the way of giving me glow and I need a new shade for winter anyway, so I'll look into a different finish foundation to use with the illuminator. Thank you both so much!

I have that illuminator too and I absolutely love it! But now that you mentioned that product that one will bring out the bumps because it did it with my RCMA foundation's to so stay away from a lot of sheer and illuminated dewy foundations when using that but if you want that finish just be completely light handed with that candlelight.I have the Nars sheer glow matte finish I like it but I don't mix the candlelight with it.

Alma isn't it wonderful? I can't help but keep looking in the mirror and turning my head to see how it picks up light at different angles. Now on to the daunting task of finding a new foundation 😣

It's so darn pretty..I use it with Givenchy photo' perfexion fluid foundation and make up for ever HD foundation and Revlon airbrush mousse, maybelline matte mousse but I used a anti-shine primer Sephora brand called base zero brilliance anti-shine this primer is a extreme matte primer it sets the face for no shine.

Thanks so much Alma! Am I correct in thinking MUFE isn't good for daily wear, as its a HD foundation? And which of those would you say is best for skin on the drier side of normal? I know most matte foundations are for oily skin, which is making my search harder.
