Today I bought my first foundation. What brushes should I buy to apply it? Should I also buy powder? It's a Clinique foundation. Thanks :)

You can also use your fingers (that's what I do) I feel that I use less product & it leaves a natural finish

I think a flat top kabuki foundation brush would be easy to apply foundation with because it helps with blending. I recommend the real techniques buffing brush or expert face brush. If you have oily skin a powder would be useful, I've never worn my foundation without a powder. Use a translucent setting powder, like the laura mercier translucent loose setting powder.

I personally use a Beauty Blender to apply my foundation c: I really like the finish that ir gives.
& I would definitely recommend a setting powder to prevent the foundation from moving around on your face or setting into fine lines during the day (:

I can't second the beauty blender being that I haven't tried it, (but I will) but I do agree about the setting spray :-) I love the urban decay one.

I use a damp beauty blender. I use my fingers and dab it on my face then blend it in with the damp beauty blender

I love either my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush or my RT Sponge, both are very affordable (and the sponge is considered a BeautyBlender dupe, though I like the shape of the RT one better). If you go with the RT brush, I would apply some of the foundation to the back of your hand, dip the brush in it, then apply it to your face using circular motions to blend it in one area at a time.
If you're using the sponge, and the foundation has a pump, I'd pump the foundation on the back of your hand and stipple it on, kind of bouncing the sponge against your skin. If it doesn't have a pump, I like to apply it straight into the sponge and then onto my skin, same bouncing motion.
If you go for the sponge, I highly recommend looking at the foundation sponge routine on YouTube posted by "vintageortacky", hers is awesome, and she's a professional makeup artist!
