I really like wet n wild liquid liner. It stays on all day and is really black. Best part is it's about $3! If you are a beginner I suggest almays liner in the black pot with white handle. Very easy to apply.

I like the felt/pen eyeliners, but the one I use is pricey so maybe it'd be worth buying a few types of eyeliners that aren't too expensive and trying them out until you find one you work well with. I used pencil, liquid, gel and pen before deciding I prefer pen and I always used liquid before then so you'll find you change what you like using as you buy different eyeliners.

Have you tried using a different colour? Maybe getting a brown/navy instead of a black would mix it up for you? :)
