My birthday is in 2 months or so, and because it's a big one, I'm not quite sure what to ask for. So far on my list I have a nice bracelet and 2-3 Tom Ford Lips & Boys lipsticks.

I love lists, and I like making them for my family with a ton of stuff on them so that I get sort of a surprise anyway because I don't know which items they picked to buy =)

Anyway, I just don't know what else to ask for, I know I'm crazy for thinking about it so early but this is fairly normal for me; I like to be sure of my lists before I send them in! Thanks y'all

No I haven't yet actually. I wish those came in more palettes so I didn't have to be like "hey mom, I want these 4 shades" and risk her not getting the right ones and not having a place to put them and stuff...I really wish they would have palettes of these that aren't the 3 pan =/

It's frustrating for sure, I can't bring myself to spend $21 on a single eyeshadow when I know I won't use it as much as a palette.

Hmm, I have a Z palette already and I honestly never use it which is unfortunate. But a Z palette wouldn't be something I'd ask for for my birthday, I don't think =)

Hannah that's such a good idea! You get surprises and you know you get what you want. I'd suggest going through the sites of your favorite clothing stores and adding everything you like to wishlists and sharing those with your family/friends. I'm not too sure of your tastes to recommend specific sites/items, but I think handbags, sunglasses and accessories are always good to ask for. If you're in school or have a lot of projects going on I'd recommend checking out Filofax planners, they're so gorgeous and functional. As for makeup, maybe some lip products from OCC or Bite? Or new makeup brushes?

Ooh, I've had a freestanding hooded hairdryer on my wishlist for a while - they're not as crazy expensive as you'd think and the idea of being able to dry my hair and do other things seems so wonderful.

Thanks! It's kind of a tradition in my family, plus everyone knows each other well enough to sort of go off on their own a bit and get some cool, random things.

I'm definitely going to ask for brushes, I was looking into Hakuhodo or Chikuhodo maybe =) Just haven't decided yet.

My problem is just that I'm sitting here staring at the Neiman Marcus website going "uh huh, I want that, and that, and OMG that..."And I don't know what's really good or appropriate for a 21st birthday!

I was looking maybe at a Balenciaga bag, if I can find one in a size and color that I like, or possibly some cute shoes (again, if I find some that I like...). I already have one jewelry piece on my list but I suppose more can't hurt =)

A nice dress (and maybe shoes and a bag) is a great idea for a birthday gift. Especially since I'm assuming you'll be going out for it? My brother always gets me a nice dress for my birthday so I have a fancy outfit to wear that day.

Yes ma'am, part of my plan is to drive to Key West and stay for a weekend =) I'll think about it for sure! 2 months is a while of present accumulation, I just like to prep cause I'll stop buying myself unnecessary items in february so that it's more fun when my birthday rolls around.

Ooh you could ask for a nice dress for your actual birthday, a bathing suit, a pair of sunglasses, and maybe some nice sandals - stuff you could use for the trip. I usually ask for things I need but don't want to spend my own money on. For Christmas I got new brakes for my car - necessary but not the most fun. Your plan seems way better.

Try asking for some of the melt eyeshadows! They come in little magnetic compacts which are awesome!! Plus, the pigmentation is crazy amazing.

Sandy the Wayne Goss Eye Set is on my list :) Kenna, I've never thought to try the Melt eyeshadows, I'll have to look though because those seem like something I'd buy for myself :)

It's not so much being "appropriate" as it is...in my family on big birthdays (16,18,21,25 etc...) you get big gifts. I want to make sure that my presents, while they won't be a new car or anything like that, are sort of important or things that I can remember my 21st by =) Am I making sense? Or am I just sounding like a terrible person?

I do all of my makeup sitting on my counter in my bathroom, actually =) I'm not sure where I would be able to fit a vanity in my room, anyway, I have furniture on most walls already! But that is a good idea, maybe I'll ask for a different type of storage situation or something.

Storage sounds good, I want storage for my birthday too but I just let my family get me what they want I feel personally greedy asking for stuff cuz I don't know they are giving me something and for me to still get pickey about it dosent go with me you get me, my man and mom know my taste and it makes it for me more meaningful them going to the store and looking for something they think I might like then say me giving them a list and say get this you get me? Don't get me wrong like you said I would only ask for things I wouldnt get my self but I always hold back and in the end I'm glad I did and the present is always a surpise but that wont hold me back from making a list for my self and try to get everything I want lol
