Help anyone! (However I know of a few ladies on here who are amazing with this sort of thread.. So please).

Well anyway it's winter time here, and my face is sure showing it! I'm at a loss. I exfoliate every few days (3-4 depending on my laziness) and wash twice a day (am just a simple face cleanser to get the night sweats off, pm I little bit of a stronger one to get makeup off if I wore makeup, otherwise it's the am cleanser) and I moisturize in the am and pm. But I'm still super flakey! I put in my makeup and then an hour layer it flakes off because my skin flakes. I'm to the point I want to exfoliate all the time but I know that's horrible for your skin so please!! Any recommendations for amazing face washes, exfoliaters or lotions??

I'd suggest a much thicker moisturizer for the winter time. Or some sort of oil (heard jojoba oil is brilliant). Your face just needs way more moisture due to the lack of it in the air.

Maybe you should try a serum before your moisturizer or a facial oil. And stay hydrated drink a lot of water it makes a huge difference.

I do a hydration mask once a week and I've noticed (even in the summer) that I'll put a nice thick layer on and with in 15 minutes when I go to wash, most of it is soaked into my skin, so I really only have to pat water on my face.

Cera Ve cream, embryolisse, and first aid beauty are the 3 I switch off between in dry winter months. I have the same problem. The only thing that has upped my game is patting oil (either Loreal or Tarte) over my regular moisturizer to seal it in at night:) Also run a humidifier in your bedroom at night if you can.

Maybe remove your makeup with an oil as well. I like the garnier one a lot. The CeraVe face wash is great for am as it does not strip oil from your skin.

I'd grab a bottle of Jojoba Oil and some Josie Maran Argan Oil Light.
I'd use CeraVe wash, apply my Argan Oil mornings...after my moisturizer has set in.
Evenings...I'd slather on the jojoba before bed...a good 30 minutes after a thick moisturizer is applied.
I'd also switch to a hydrating primer and a foundation that is intended for drier skin types. Passing on powder (a light dusting of Mineral Veil if you must) may also be of help.
Lastly, a toner, like Mario Badescu's with seaweed has an aloe base and should help keep your skin in balance.

Thanks Rozberry, I do use cooler water, as the heat from hot is drying but also because my house is old and I'd have to wait 20 minutes to have hot water lol.

What you live in a desert and it's super cold?! I guess that must be a big misconception. Lol I'm up in canada where it's winter for at least half the month, we actually got snow in September this year as well as a snow storm in April this spring!

Haha Sandra you get used to driving in the snow! I actually took my driving test in a blizzard. My instructor asked if I wanted to reschedule but I don't live in town and had to borrow a car for the test (my break light was smashed out 😞) so I was like nope I'm game and yea I passed splendidly. This was my first drive in my new car right after we got it highways got closed about an hour after I had gotten home haha.

If you spend a lot of time indoors in winter it could be the heating. Dry air will dry out the skin. I bought an air humidifier a couple of months ago and it was a game changer for me. I also wore embryolisse lait crème in the mornings which acts as a protective barrier when I went outside, no dry patches to be seen! Hope I helped :)

Thanks becki! We do need humidifiers in our house for sure. We have a big one that's attached to our furnace and plugged into our water lines. But our water it sooo harsh and full of calcium and it's rendered unusable :( so we've been looking into grabbing a few little ones to place in bedrooms and the living rooms. I've heard of that cream before, do you know where I could find it?

You can buy embryolisse products from camera ready cosmetics :) Maybe you could buy a big bottles of distilled or spring water and only have the humidifiers on at night? That way your skin gets hydrated at night then in the morning you seal it in with moisturizer.
