The original naked palette has 12 shades.two are matte and the other ten are slight shimmer. The newest urban decay has like six or seven shades and all of them are matte. Both palettes are gorgeous but I love my original naked pallete(:

I hadn't tried any of the naked pallets before but I went and got my naked original today! about two hours ago. I was originally going to get the basics palette because its cheaper and I thought if I really liked that then I might get the others. it took me a while to decide on getting naked 1 after all anyway. I'd say they are all equal in value because you can get 6 slightly bigger shadows for £20 or 12 shadows for £36 plus a brush and either a lipgloss or shadow primer depending on which palette you go for. I really wanted to try the shadow primer and after looking at all the colours I decided I'd get most use out of the original pallete. the only thing that put me off was the strange furry packaging but thats not important is it.
