I was at Sally's the other day and I saw that loreal had a new line of hicolor lift that were blonde and they said for dark hair only I was really tempted to buy them with a 40 developer but instead of buying it I asked the lady if it would get my hair blonde enough to dye it a box color blonde and she said I'd still have to bleach my hair? OK what I wanted to do to get around the bleaching was dye my hair with a few boxes to get a lighter color and then from that lighter color dye it again in like a week or so and do that til I reached my desired blonde but she was like no. I'm a little confused because these hicolors have bleach already in it hence why you need developer or whatever that stuff is called and it says on the box FOR DARK HAIR I don't know should I try it anyway??

I can't help with those particular dyes but I do know the shwartzopft Nordic blonde lightening dyes are preeeetty good with lightening hair. :)

My hair is dark brown with red undertones would that lighten my hair? I just need a blonde base to keep dying over that blonde enough so I can put the white manic panic in my hair lol

Yes it would :) it's worked for me with dark brown hair a lot of times, it's what I like to use if I don't want to use bleach, it's still got lightening powder with it but it's not very harsh on your hair either which is good :)

Brianna I feel like since you naturally have red undertones it may eventually fade to a dark straw berry blonde/brunette. You may need a color that will counteract the red

They aren't naturally red I had dyed my hair red before and covered it with dark brown lol and I will look into that shaye I hope I can find it in my stores.

Brianna I've bought those Hi Lift dyes before and was disappointed. Unfortunately if you want lift you need a bleach booster.

Well as you can see I'm a very light blonde (but naturally about a medium brown with a lot of red undertones.)
I'm not sure if you know the numbering system for haircolor - a level 1 is completely black, a level 5 is a medium brown (my natural color with lots of red undertones) going up to a level 10 which is like ultra platinum blonde.
Normally I bleach my hair with L'oreal blanc powder bleach+ 40 vol developer for 45 minutes to a light yellow, then tone using Redken EQ Shades in 9G (a golden blonde with a brown base for 20 minutes.
L'oreal's 'Hicolor Blonde Hilights" says it lifts 3-4 shades with no 'pre lightening' required - that was NOT my experience when I tried it using 40 vol developer for 50 minutes. I was left with a hideous neon orange color.
The only thing I can say is if you have a lot of red/orange tones in your hair 'L'oreal's Hicolor Blonde' will not remove them to an attractive shade of blonde.
I was really hoping the L'oreal HiColor' would work so I could skip the step of toning, but alas no.
To correct the 'neon orange' left by the "HiColor Blonde' product required another round of bleach to get the orange out & a toner to drab to the banana yellow I was then left with - I also had quite a bit of breakage & ended up with a 'Billy Idol' type pixie.
I can't really speak for Schwarzkopf's ultimate lighteners as I've never used nor seen them in the US.
