Hi kittens 😊🐈
I was wondering if makeup school (special effects, high fashion, ect.) was really worth the cost? I found a school I think I'd really enjoy, and it's 20k. I've heard from some that's it's helped in their career, but I see a lot of others saying it's not worth it. Personally I just want to really increase my skill, and if I have an opportunity to be in a place where I can exhibit my work as well get photographs taken I would love to do it. All opinions/tips appreciated (; thank you!

I feel like it does help I personally havent gone to one but a piece of paper saying you have gotten training for what you do and have knowledge of what you do never hurts it will only help you, weather it be makeup, photography, construstion, any work field its always best to have something that backs you up saying you know what your doing

If you plan on doing special effects, training is highly recommended since you will be working with chemicals.
Formal training in the basics of application, technique, sanitation, marketing, and time management are beneficial to anyone looking to establish a career in makeup. Not to mention building a portfolio will help you get jobs in the future (having access to professional photographers via your program is a huge perk). Plus, having your certificate and other documentation will allow you to get a pro discount with many stores/brands in order to build your kit.
If anything, having the advice of professionals with experience is invaluable. Learning how to write contacts, set your prices, work with clients, and market yourself is CRITICAL.

A lot of it is where you live. LA is one thing, but ohio is different. I know make up artists that can't get any work where I live.
