Sorry if this topic has been spoken about but I'm still so confused as to how their matching works. Okay, so I went to mac for my 17th birthday and they matched me to nc15. It was very orange on my skin and just far too dark and looked like the wrong undertone. I'm fairly sure I have a cool undertone because my veins are blue. I'm just curious, which are warm and which are cool tones from mac? Like Nw, Nc.
I hope that makes sense, thanks so much girls!

Nw means neutral warm but it is based on the fact that red is the warmest color there is. So nw is a pink tone. on the other hand, nc means neutral cool and is actually a yellow tone. Miss Jacqueline once explained the reasons behind the names of the shades and it blew my mind! So anyway I think that if your veins are blue, you should go for nw!

Oh and obviously you should go in with no face makeup on.

Last time I went in she tested the shade and it looked fine but when I purchased the product it seemed far different :(

No problem!
I think it's so interesting! Also, I would go in natural light with a mirror to check before buying it.

I think I'm much more conscious of colour matches now then I was back then so I definitely will :p.

Great! BTW a lot of people get matched with the wrong shade, just be very critical and don't blindly trust what they say! :) good luck!!

If they apply any directly to the side of your face I highly advise going outside with a hand mirror in direct sunlight to see how it looks. You'll feel silly and people will stare and look at ya funny but when it comes to spending money on pricey foundation I'd rather look silly for a few moments so I can get the perfect match. The indoor lighting can be so deceiving.

The way I think about it is NW is "not warm" and NC is "not cool". MAC is kind of backwards from the rest of the makeup world because they have what's considered cool tones (pink) as warm and what's considered warm tones (yellow) as cool. But thinking of them as not warm and not cool really helps me out lol.
