There I a shampoo called radiant red that you can buy to keep the red hair from fading. There is one for dyed hair and natural red hair. Just have to make sure you get the right one.

What I'd do is add red kool aid to your shampoo basically like using purple shampoo but in this case it's red shampoo to keep the hair stained red.

Though I like to mix it with conditioner as I don't have to leave it in long and it's not drying

What I did when I had fading trouble is use manic panic or fudge paintbox dye and put a couple of drops in a spray bottle filled with water and whenever I noticed it wasn't as vibrant as it was, I'd spray some of this stuff in and it'd touch it up without having to use another whole dye.

I dyed my natural human hair wigs all the time and I find that the best way to keep the color is by using Matrix Biolage Color Care Shampoo it's $16 this shampoo is sulfate free so it doesn't strip the hair and it makes it shiny and vibrant. Also lock and Seal your hair use a water based leave in conditioner then argan oil to seal the moisture in it also helps to seal in the color and protect it from fading.

I rinse mine with apple cider vinegar diluted with water to lock in the color. To be honest, I'm not sure if this really helps but take all the precautionary measures I can.
Also, never heat style, don't wash frequently (I only wash 1 or 2 times a week), and stay out of sun so the color doesn't oxidize and turn orange.

Ok don't use Loreal hi color to touch up color it is not intended for that as it will ruin your hair. Don't use permanent hair dye to retouch since it will fade quickly regardless...always always always wash your red hair with cold water. Washing it with warm or hot water will fade your hair

I have been red for years my tricks and tips are wash your hair in cold water and with reviving reds ( you can get it at sallys) wash maybe 2 times a week and dry shampoo one day. always use a color protection spray. (I use matrix miracle 12.) don't use heat! if you do use on low setting.

Professional color is the best color to use, box is crap. Sorry I'm a colorist hairstylist and makeup artist. I just like to help but not everyone listens. If you don't wanna go to a salon go to sallys or order professional color off of amazon... Paul Mitchell professional hair color is one of the best reds I've witnessed to last the longest. If you are interested in what I have to say ask me and well talk about your hair and what you need to order and how to apply it. I will also tell you the right color protect products to use. Professional obviously ;-) but anyways I LOVE to help :-)
