Hi everyone! Whenever I do eyeshadow looks, (gradient, smokey, cut creases, etc.) when my eyes are open, it looks great, well blended, pigmented, etc. When I close my eyes, it looks horrible! How do I get it to look like the pictures you see on the internet? Is there any blending techniques or what?

Try blending with a brand new clean brush that you hadnt used for the other shadows~

Does it only look bad in pictures, and fine in real life? Because most of the pictures online are super edited to make the makeup look better. What I do to take pictures is stand next to a window, put the front camera up to my eye (so I can see what I'm taking the picture of) and then just go for it. I use my iPhone 4, and I have no clue how to edit, so you can look at my profile and see how it turns out/if it would work for you. An unfortunate downside to most cameras, though, is that they tend to downplay your blending skills, and make your pictures look a lot more harsh than real life.

Thanks Jamie!
Hannah, yes it tends to only look bad in pictures, I too use my iphone, so maybe that's it. Otherwise, I might want to look into some editing programs ;).

I definitely agree with Hannah and Jamie! I do blend out a lot more for photography and I also sharpen my photography so the quality looks nice. But I also must tell you, the quality of photography also makes a significant difference. I used to use an iphone and the quality was rather horrible to pick up the pigments, or eyeshadows as they were in person. I then opted for a DSLR and when I take a picture the colours look exactly the same as in person. Another factor that comes into play is the lightening. Generally I have a camera in one hand and hold a lamp in the other and shift both around to find the perfect angle to take the photo.
