Second that motion, grunge nails didn't really exist in the day. Goth girls (like me) went for a all black or dark purple in high school. Grunge was more of dirty hair, low maintenance, minimal to none look. I was a freshmen around 96-97.

This article might help with the esthetics of the authentic grunge look at the time. True grunge was about looking like you shopped at goodwill, and I can't recall anyone in the scene that would be caught dead painting their nails.

OMG is that Chanel Vamp? I totally had that. Remember Night Sky? I wish they would reissue that.
Who else remembers how UD was almost a more nail polish heavy company at that time? I had the oil slick looking one. And Hard Candy? Alma, didn't we talk about the rings that came with them?
Jennifer, maybe you painted your nails with white out or sharpie though? I remember we would "highlight" our hair with markers in school. And you would customize your converse by making some design in sharpie on the shell top. There was a girl at another high school who had covered her docs in glitter somehow. Hot as shi$.
