The higher the SPF, the more time you can spend in the sun. But you do have to reapply. SPF 15 means you're allowed 15x longer in the sun that without sun cream. But do check the UV ratings - they're important too. Sun cream won't affect or change dry skin, but your skin will dry out if it gets burnt, so stay moisturised.

Can we apply sun cream directly on our skin? or do we need to apply any other cream before it.

I love the Hydrating Aveeno. I'm using the spf 50. I didnt see the, spf 70 at my store, but I probably would have gotten the 70 if I saw it.

Higher SPF doesn't necessarily mean more protection

Spf 30 is recommended by dermatologist and more than enough daily protection if your going to be out at the beach or laying out a higher spf of 50 or 70 but to be clear just because you go from a 15 to 30 does not mean your getting 15 more percent protection spf 15 gives you about 95 percent protection from the sun already and 30 will give you about 2 % more protection so it's unnecessary to use spf of 100 or 70 -daily because your not getting that much more protection just more chemicals, and you should try using spf with helioplex in it because you do not need to reapply as often the suns rays don't break it down as fast

Many sunscreens offer SPF protection, but solely from UVB rays, which causes redness and burning. Wrinkles and cancer stem from UVA rays. Despite many claims by sunscreens to be "Broad Spectrum" they fall short on UVA protection. To maximize protection during prolonged sun exposure, look for a sunscreen with Zinc Oxide as an active ingredient. This provides a higher level of sun protection. A higher SPF without UVA protection does very little to truly protect your skin in my view. I have 3 sunscreens as I use one daily, one for prolonged sun exposure and one for swimming. All require reapplication so a spray is nice for touching up when your face is made up. :)

Traci and Rozberry is spot on with their advice. I use 15 if I'm homebound and my only travel is to the mailbox out front. 30 is when I'm going to be out and about running errands and 50 is the max I go and that is reserved for the beach or if I'm kayaking. And with 30 and 50 I reapply ever two to three hours.

@Shelley I use 50 when I'm going to be out for awhile. Last weekend I was at a bike rally with some friends and fam. They thought I was crazy for reapplying every three hours.

@Severtria...I used to get grief from my friends about it but now I see them doing the same thing. But my poor husband gets heat from complete strangers...other men calling him "gay" for putting on sunscreen in the airport (yep those rays penetrate thru the glass on airplanes especially if you have a window seat). He is very fair skinned and he has eczema...he can't afford to skimp on not wearing it.
