Thanks Grace! Hello fellow Sarah C. there are lots of different biological stains and they have a variety of uses. they are mostly used in science and medicine. Gentian Violet is an anti fungal that is used to treat thrush on babies and adults. Methylene Blue is commonly used in aquariums to treat disease on fish.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staining
