I find chipped nails absolutely annoying, and I'm sick of doing my nails almost twice a week.
Looking into a more long lasting manicure. Do you guys prefer Gel nail polish, or shellac?
Xx
Which do you guys prefer?

Shellac, I was able to keep it for 7 weeks however this was a pedi.

I prefer the OPI gel or Gellish- I think the shellac can look thick. Gel polishes also last about 2 weeks.

Shellac is amazing, I've had it done about 5 times and I've only had it removed due to growth, no chipping at all.

Honestly none of that worked for me. My nails chip easily, the only difference with Shellac/Gel/Gelish etc. is that the polish peels off in a big chunk instead of chipping.

Shellac. however, I like going into nail salons & getting actual gel nails.
absolutely no chipping/cracking.. anything! however it is a little on the pricey side I guess, as you usually have to go every 2-3 weeks to get them filled.

I don't like either... I just get acrylics really short (its my real nail) and have them paint the whole nail or tips. Some say it messes up your real nails but I always have them on so it not a problem for me

I think gels last a lot longer than shellac. I've seen a lot of girls with shellac and it chipped within 1-2 days...
Whenever I need something and I want the 'no chip' effect, I just get the cheap stick on nails by Kiss... they've lasted me for 2 months! And they bring a bunch of extra replacements

^ agreed, actually.
forgot all about nail polish stickers :p they work really well, have a bunch of cool designs, & they last quite long time. I usually like to paint a layer of top coat over them to seal the edges & give it extra shine (:

Shellac it lasts atleat 14 days if done properly! 3 weeks normally for my clients only needs to be redone due to growth. and it's good on your nails. toenails will last 6 weeks again would be longer if it wasn't for growth :-) just be careful of people that claim they can do it and don't apply it properly xxxx

Gelish! Mine lasts for 2 weeks.it probably lasts longer but I get my nails done every two weeks because of the out growth. I'm a waitress & I work at the bank, I also lift weights. So if I'm not getting any chips it seriously works! Just have to have a good nail tech doing them. If not they'll peel of or chip.

I got a gel manicure two weeks ago yesterday and I'm going to get my nails redone tomorrow, not because of chips, but because they've simply grown and need to be trimmed and repainted. My nail Polish has not chipped at all! And I work on a register all day so I am constantly using my hands! I'd totally recommend gel!
