So my hair won't dry when it's up in a bun, put into a braid or anything like that when it's wet or damp. It only drys when it's just hanging.
I was told that it's because my hair is unhealthy but my hair has been like this since I can remember. I also feel my hair is healthy since it's soft and I barely get split ends. I do my bet to keep it healthy.
But does it mean my hair is unhealth? :(

Listen Hun, I didn't mean that your hair is damaged. Don't worry. How long do you sleep? Is your room cold? Do you lay on your hair? All these factors can make your hair not dry. Hair that doesn't dry at all is unhealthy. But try the braids tonight.

My room is warm, I lay on my side or my stomach. I sleep for about 8 and more hours.

Kaitlin, Sorry I kinda posted after you told me my hair was unhealthy. It's just my hair is everything to me and if something is unhealthy I really want to fix it.

It totally does not mean your hair is unhealthy.! It's just probably your hair is thicker maybe like in my case💖

Well I used to shower right before bed and braid my hair (for waves). Or if I was lazy put it up in a bun and when I woke up it was still pretty damp. It's the simple fact that air isn't getting to it like it would if its down.
AND BTW I told my hairdresser what I do and she said be careful not to do it too much because it can lead to mold if you do it every night...(:

I understand Shannon. I was just saying it's "unhealthy" because if your hair is super dry, it won't want to dry, leaving it wet. My hair is thick and it dries. Not completely. As long as your hair isn't dripping wet, the waves will stay. Look at my picture. That's waves made by braids. Don't expect it to be 100% dry.

When you braid/ put your hair into a bun it is wrapped up so it stays moist. It does that to mostly everybody, except for people with really thin hair

Kaitlin M...when does it happen that hair doesn't dry at all? Whether the hair is healthy or not healthy it will obviously dry...its not going to stay wet now.

Putting it into a bun and braid will take longer but none of that means its unhealthy. That said, putting your wet hair into a bun can case damage because when wet the hair is weaker therefore putting it in a very tight bun will pull on the roots and cause breakage and/or thinning.

You have nothing to worry about babe. my hair is shoulder length and when I wash my hair and put it in a bun my hair does not dry for hours (the part that's the bun) it's because it's not exposed to be air dried because it's in a bun. don't worry or stress yourself love.
To know if your hair is not healthy...
1. Dry ends
2. Brittle easy to break hair
3. Split ends
4. Very dry hair
Etc..
To prevent these damages make sure you buy a sulfate free shampoo. Silicone free conditioner. decrease the amount of times you apply heat to your hair (if you do use heat). use a heat protectant before you apply heat. deep condition your hair using any type of hair mask of your preference once a week after you wash your hair. leave in conditioner. trim your split ends.
All the these suggestions I mentioned above should prevent any damages love.
