I'd like honest opinions on this.. My daughter asks me last night if I would do her makeup for school. I told her no. So I got the "but all the other girls do it". I wouldn't really mind her wearing a tiny bit. Shadow and lip gloss only. Have any of you moms run into this yet? If so what did you do/say?

My 5yr old is such a lil 'fashionista' like me :) lol she asks and I say no. I do let her wear the Vaseline that is cherry colored. and she's allowed to play at home. for me, I don't allow it. I don't want her to think it's important. her academics and friends come first. I will not judge anyone who has a different answer, of course :)

My daughter always wants to, she is in 1St grade, so to be honest, I sit her on the counter while I'm getting ready and pretend to put blush on her and I let her use a tinted lip balm but she has to leave it at home with me. She just wants to be like mommy.

Even though I'm not a mom I think it's too young I was only allowed to put mascara on when I was 14 ahaha You should get her in a habit of wearing make-up she could literally get addicted to it.

My girls are 5&7 and I only let them wear tinted Vaseline/gloss. and on weekends and church, I let em wear a pink lipstick. SOMETIMES. we also play somedays too. it's fun.

My first real makeup experience was at 13. my grandma took me to clinique and I fell in love with makeup! that's a long ways away for your baby Michele :)?

Thanks for the opinions, she actually has her own stuff I gave her to play with. I'll just let her wear eos to school. Plus I'm not one for "but the other girls do". Don't want her falling into that!!

Too young. If it's all in good fun and girl time, then sure. My 4-yr old niece loves to come over and do makeup. What little girl doesn't like to play dress up? But I think that's too young to seriously wear makeup. Maybe get her those tinted lip balms for kids. I didn't start wearing makeup until junior high school.

My 4 1/2 yo is my makeup diva. She loves it, always wants eyeshadow, blush, lipstick etc. I will put some (VERY LIGHTLY) on her on non-school days. On school days I let her use my M.A.C lipglass, just a hint of color and shine, and she's mostly happy with that.

I don't have kids, but when I was 3-6 my mom used to buy me the fake makeup that is just plastic inside plastic to look like eyeshadows, and I was perfectly content with putting it on with the brush it comes with and pretending I had beautiful eyeshadow and lipstick on. But I wasn't allowed to wear makeup until junior high.

My honest opinion but again it's mine I too have a 8 your old daughter I will not allow her to wear makeup not even gloss just chapped stick. I just feel she is too young and she needs to enjoy her childhood before she tries to jump to tennage hood its also not good to teach her to do what others do also it will age her faster also education is first...if the other lil girls mom don't mind their lil girls acting fast that's on them but a fast lil girl will be created.
