My hair is naturally straight so when I curl it they don't last longer than maybe one hour. how do I get the look I want?

Before you blow-dry use a volumising/ structuring mousse, styling cream, or a sea salt spray to give your hair some grit if its really straight. Then blow-dry it in. Use a light- strong hold hair spray to spray each section up and down lightly before you curl it .. Yup. ( Use what ever you think is best - you can start with a light hold as it will be less crunchy as you curl & then finish with strong hold after you comb it out) DO NOT comb it out right after you're done . Let it cool down & set before running your hands through to soften. After that hang your head back ( like a stripper) or upside down & do your finishing spray.
Another tip- once it's done, Don't touch it. The curls will fall on their own so you don't want to encourage that by running your hands through it or fiddling with it.
If this starts to become an every day type thing make sure you are taking care to protect your hair from heat with leave in conditioning sprays/ creams. You can find some setting lotions ( to put in when wet) that are conditioning & heat protecting as well.
If you want bigger hair, section horizontally an inch section at a time at, just below & around the crown after you curl . Back comb each section 12 times, spray & flip forward. Then bring back down & tousle it so it looks normal.
This will all work best if your hair is a bit dirty & not squeaky clean. ;)

Debbie is pretty much spot on.... except after you curl them pin them to your head in the barrel shape of the size curl you did. You'll look like an old school lady when they would walk around with the curlers in their hair, but there wont be any curlers.... this will help retai nthe shape of the curl and it cools and will set the curl so it lasts longer.
