Well don't be so hard on yourself maybe it's not even you that's messing up. what brushes are you using? when I
first started doing smokey eyes I was using the wrong brushes and once I used the correct ones they would come out waaaay better

I think people get confused with smokey eyes because there are so many different ways but the easiest way to learn (in my opinion) is to try it with less product. Don't pack super dark colors on your lid, gradually add more until it looks right. Also using two brushes, one to apply the color with and a second angled eyeshadow brush to blend with help to blend instead of keep adding and spreading more color. Does that make sense? Sorry, I hope this is a little bit helpful. Smokey eyes are HARD.

I have just now mastered it! It takes lots of practice, but I found it was easiest by learning with light colors first and then trying it darker each time. I also like using smaller brushes because I feel like it can get really messy. Make sure you are using a primer too. Start with less shadow and then layer so you have more control. I also like taking lots of time when learning because you need some precision otherwise you will look like Taylor Momsen or whatever her name is, and look like a racoon, which you don't want!
