I assume you don't mean the kind with the glue strip already attached, right? Because those are terrible for longevity. If you mean the kind with super strong glue, that you apply yourself, try buffing your nails first, and maybe getting a stronger glue like the kind technicians use when you break a nail. Also be really careful with your nails, that can help a ton. Don't use them to open things, or do anything that could pop them off.

I only wear "press on" nails over acrylic or gel and I've never had one pop off on me. I've worn them up to 3 weeks. My no pop off method:
-sizing them is key. Most important thing I learned. If you have to press the nail down to get it side wall to side wall, it doesn't fit. It should lay and fit. Then always file the sides for the perfect fit.
-file your nail beds for a rough surface
- hold the nail down for a minute after gluing
-once all nails are glued I wait 5 mins before filing and painting them.
-I use Nailene super quick dry glue only

Put nail glue on the nail and your real nail and when you apply the nail, keep hold for at least 10 seconds to assure position
