It is like an edition to your hair, skin routine that does a specific thing example if your hair has split ends you would use a serum that helps fix split ends.

There are so many types of skincare serums available. Applied before your moisturizer it sinks into skin offering more intense treatment than lets say your moisturizer. Moisturizer seals it all in so your skin can reap the benefits. You have a vitamin c serum which addresses acne scarring and environmental distress caused by the sun. This can also be beneficial to active acne sufferers as well. Then you have glycolic/aha/bha serums which act as a topical exfoliatant of the skin. Keeps the pores clear of debris and fading of scars. There are many, many more but I hope this gives you a general idea.

A serum is something anyone who is over the age of 20 should be using it supplies your skin with vitamins,peptides,antioxidants,anti-inflammatory ingredients, firming, exfoliating, brightening and overall good skin health, serums are made with a smaller molecular size than moisturizers and also made with innovative delivery systems so they can travel where they need to be,peptides are made of amino acids and your skin already is made of amino acids so it can recognize it and use it each peptide works on different skin issues and there are usually more than one peptide an any good serum so you get more than just one benefit.

You got some great feedback here :-) A Serum acts as a booster as well when applied before a moisturizer. It absorbs deeper into the skin than a moisturizer. You can use alone or with cream. Just want to note that if you have sensitive skin, try a patch test before use.
